The scene is that of Jesus as a child, who, in His divine vision, sees two chief angels, one holding a spear that will pierce His side of the rib, and a pole with a vinegar-soaked sponge stuck in it; and the other holding a cross, and iron nails. The baby Jesus, in fear, flung Himself into His mother’s arms, with His eyes still very uneasy at the hands of the angels. In her haste, one of Baby Jesus’ shoes, almost ran off. The Blessed Mother held her baby close, giving Him protection and comfort, while the eyes of the Blessed Mother, looked to us. It was the sinfulness of us, the human race, that caused Her beloved Son to suffer; but it was also for our salvation that Her beloved Son was willing to be born as an adult from God. So Our Lady, who looks to mankind, also awaits our conversion.
